College of Humanities and Sciences of Guizhou Minzu University, approved by the Ministry of Education of PRC, jointly founded in 2001 and run by Guizhou Minzu University and private capital, is an administratively independent full-time college of higher learning in new mechanism.
The college covers a total area of over 700 mu,which is divided into two campus with approximately 150 mu in Huaxi district and nearly 466mu in Huaxi University Town. The Huaxi district, a beautiful tourist attraction with long history and rich cultural legacy in Guizhou province. It is adjacent both to Guizhou Minzu University and Guizhou University. The new campus located in Guian New District, neighbouring with Guizhou Financial University, Guizhou Medical University as well as Guizhou Normal University. The administration building takes more than 200,000 m²with 300 thousands m²students and faculty departments, equipped with a library with over 1 million books and resources.
The College has a highly-efficient team of management with the chancellor in charge led by the board trustees striving for progress, reform and innovation, and seeking common development for the future of the college.
The College consists 16 executive departments, 7 teaching departments and 2 teaching assistance departments, with 13 thousands enrollment students, offering 34 undergraduate programs in seven disciplines: law, education, literature, science, engineering, management and art studies. At present, the College has more than 600 full-time teacher, in which the secondary senior professors accounted for 50% and 70% are masters. So far, among the college faculty, there are more than 30 teachers are leading talents in the philosophy and social science of the national Ten Thousand People Program, and rewarded with “ Cultural master of the central propaganda department”, “Experts on special allowances under the state council”, and “ Academic leader of philosophy and social science of Guizhou Province.”
The College has established cooperation relationship with Ji’nan University, Southwest University, Beijing Language and Culture University, Central China Normal University and other famous colleges and universities and select 100 students to study in these universities. Meanwhile, through “Guizhou one-thousand students’ exchange plan” program, the college has selected each year over 20 excellent students to renowned colleges and universities at home and abroad to study, including Da-yeh University in Taiwan, Vanung University, Yuan Ze University, Plekhanov Economic University in Russia, Northern University of Malaysia, Technological University of Malaysia, University of Fraser Valley, etc.
In recent years, the college has made great achivements in talent training, scientific research, as well as community service. In 2010, the College was elected one of the “National Advanced Independent Colleges” all over the country and “National Innovative Think Tank Advanced Social Organization.” In the same time, the college was rewarded “The Forth National Demonstration Unit for National Unity and Progress”, “Demonstration School for National Unity and Progress”, “Guizhou Province’s Fifth Batch of Ethnic Folk Culture Education Project School”, “ The Provincial Advanced Unit for National Unity and Progress of the 12the Five-year Project”.
